Polypropylene (PP) is a petroleum-based thermoplastic polymer belonging to the olefin family and is obtained from the polymerization of propylene. The multifilament polypropylene yarn is produced from an isotactic polypropylene homopolymer.

SUNLIGHT RESISTANT

Our yarn contains stabilizers to protect it from the sun’s UV rays, as well as from oxidation and thermal degradation. The unit of measurement used to measure solar energy is the LANGLEY, which is calculated as follows:
1 Langley = 1 cal./cm2 x min.
The amount of energy received from the sun in one year ranges from a minimum of 60 Kly in polar regions to a maximum of 220 Kly in the deserts of Africa. Our yarn retains over 80% of its initial resistance after being exposed to 120 Kly (equivalent to one year’s exposure).
